With very little time, Jan, Wesley, Talia and I made a mad dash to Romania for Thanksgiving. Truth in lending, we needed to get Wesley and Talia out of the European Union; more specifically the Schengen Countries to have their passports restamped. One can only travel for 90 days on a travel visa in the EU--their arrival in the EU would exceed the requirement; thus, resulting in their departure and subsequent return.
Romania allowed us to explore Eastern Europe while getting a renewed stamp on their passports. We enjoyed a short visit in the beautiful capital of Bucharest followed by a one day drive into the country side. We enjoyed a visit to the Bran Castle which is famous for the setting of “Dracula”. Reality / History disproves all of the folklore or myth as Bran Castle never really had anything to do with Vlad the Impaler. OK, I will stop here. If you want to know more about Dracul (Order of the Dragon--a prestiges title) or Draco (Vlad’s Father), look it up. Surprisingly, you will find out more about Dracula from an academic perspective than you ever wanted to know--BUT, it is interesting how the fiction got started. Enjoy the pics and happy Thanksgiving.
